Call for Participation: Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) on Digital Rights and Cybersecurity

Are you a student interested in digital rights, cybersecurity, and EU digital sovereignty? Join our upcoming Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) and gain valuable insights from leading academics and professionals in the field. This is a unique opportunity to engage in interdisciplinary discussions, present your research, and collaborate with peers from different institutions.

Programme Overview

The BIP combines online sessions with collaborative student activities and research presentations. The programme is open to EMILDAI and BIP students and will run from May to June 2025.

Key Features:

  • Online Component (May-June 2025): Five expert-led sessions on digital rights, cybersecurity, and EU digital sovereignty.
  • In-Person Component (30 June- 4 July 2025): Paper and poster presentations, roundtable panels, group work sessions and cultural and institutional visits.
  • Opportunities for students to present research and develop presentation skills through dedicated workshops.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor/Master/Doctoral student/teacher of Law or Computer Science related degrees or faculty in some related area.
  • Good level of English (equivalent to a minimum B2 in accordance to the CEFR)
  • Availability for both the online part and physical mobility.

  • 26 May: The European Protection of Personal Data – Christina Koumpli (Avignon Université)
  • 3 June: EU Digital Sovereignty – Edoardo Celeste (Dublin City University)

Online methodological Sessions (June 2025) – BIP & EMILDAI Students

  • 9 June: How to Deliver Paper Presentations – Adriana Suarez Corona (Universidad de León)
  • 10 June: How to Prepare a Poster – Julie Tröbitsch (Dublin City University)
  • Four 1-hour student-led group work sessions (2, 9, 16, 23 June)

Physical mobility: 30 June- 4 July in León (Spain) (the programme might be updated):

Friday, July 4, 2025 (5,5 h):

8:30-14:00 Visit to the ancient city of León, the cradle of Parliamentarism and San Isidoro

14:00-16:00 Lunch time.

Funding options:

  • Candidates must apply for one of the following Erasmus+ mobility activities:
    • Blended short-term student mobility for studies, or
    • Blended staff mobility for training.
  • These mobilities must be financed by the candidate’s home institution, or the candidates must cover the costs themselves.

 

How to apply: 

  • Interested participants should contact their International Relations Office or the Erasmus+ mobility department at their institution, to confirm whether there is an open Erasmus+ call that can fund their participation.

  • Once eligibility is confirmed, the candidate must send an email to both coordinators of the host university: asuac@unileon.es and talvr@unileon.es
    • Subject line of the email: “Interest in joining the BIP ‘AI and Cybersecurity in Europe”
    • Email content must include:
      • A brief description of the candidate’s academic or professional background.
      • An attached document demonstrating their level of English.
      • The candidate should CC their International Relations Office in the email.
  • The coordinator of the BIP will respond to both the candidate and their institution to confirm admission status.

Master and Doctoral students:

Master and doctoral students are invited to submit research abstracts and posters for presentation.

    • Only 20 places are available.
    • Admission is on a first-come, first-served basis, provided candidates meet the requirements.
  • The application deadline is April 30th, 2025.
