On 20 October 2025, EMILDAI was represented at the International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Sensitive Data: Challenges, Regulatory Solutions and the Protection of Fundamental Rights, hosted by the University of Parma, Italy.
The conference, part of the research project “AI-Biometric Systems and Fundamental Rights Protection: Legal Challenges and Regulatory Solutions in a Comparative Perspective”, brought together leading researchers to discuss the legal and ethical implications of AI applications in biometric and health data.
At the event, EMILDAI was represented by Shana Schlottfeldt Santos (cohort 4 student) who was part of a panel and presented paper entitled ‘Facial Recognition in Brazilian Parliament Legislative Procedure: An Ethical Use Proposal’.

EMILDAI was also represented by Dr. Edoardo Celeste, EMILDAI’s programme chair, who gave a presentation on ‘Constitutionalising EU Digital Rights: Propelling Factors and Decelerating Phenomena’. His presentation was recently turned into a blog article that will soon be available for access on DCU Law and Tech Research Cluster’s The Comparative Digital Law Blog.
